Before... Part 6

At that moment, it was as if war had been declared. We both charged at each other once more but the principle pried us apart.
"Clearly," he said, "you two need to be far away from each other. Far, far, far, away from each other."
Belle and I scowled at each other.
"Belle, please follow me to my office," the principle ordered. "April, go to Mrs. Timber's office. Wait for me there."
Belle gave me one last look before following the principle to his office. I, myself, slowly walked to Mrs. Timber's office. She was the vice principle and had once been an average driving instructor. Rumor had it, she made the students wear safety goggles when they drove. Despite being only the vice principle, she was more vicious than a rabid dog. I wanted time to stop so I wouldn't have to go into her office. But, of course, that didn't happen.
The first thing I saw when I came into Mrs. Timber's office was a picture of her and her husband. He was a firefighter, and compared to his wife, very immodest. Next to the picture was a toy plane. I guessed it belonged to Mrs. Timber's kids.
I took a quick look around and let out a sigh of relief. Mrs. Timbers was no where to be seen. I sat on one of the chairs in front of her desk and looked out the window just in time to see a new storm brewing in the sky. I jumped up when the thunder roared and began counting the seconds until the lightning struck.
  30 seconds.
I remembered having read somewhere that you should divide the time between the thunder and lighting by five. Or maybe it was three?
So, 30 divided by 5 is 6. 6 miles away. Or maybe 10 miles away? I dunno. Either way, it's only a difference of four miles. Was it miles anyway? I dunno. I really don't know.
