Azrae's Flight

by Azurys | Score: 4200

Azrea soared in the midnight sky, twisting to snap at the annoying little birds that flew too close to be anything but food. She glanced at the sea below, as she had every five minutes for the past few hours, hoping to spot a glimpse of the ship. It took a moment to see the faint green-blue glow of the ghost ship. On board, she saw animals of all kinds, also glowing with an ethereal blue aura. She thought she saw a giraffe, and maybe a rhino, but she wasn't sure. The ship, according to legend, belonged to Quince Arth, an old antique collector from Alquion. Azrea felt someone's gaze upon her. She dove closer to the ship, and her sharp eyes caught a glimpse of an old man. He was holding a stuffed dog. As the legend said, the dog was going to be a gift for his young girl, who he was going to meet for the first time after the voyage. He never made it back. He had been travelling to Kyrinao for a meeting with other salespeople. While he was there, someone staged a bank robbery. Arth had aided in the capture of the crooks and had recieved a medal in his honor, leading to a statue being placed in the city square. On his journey home, compatriots of the bank robbers sailed alongside Arth's ship and boarded it, destroying crew and cargo and pushing everything into the sea. The ship was crashed near an old lighthouse in Yiron, where it was discovered days later by Morth, a delivery carrier. Nilck, a mortician, examined the bodies of those left on board and declared that they had not been killed by mortal hands, but by ghosts.
