The Bookshop in a War

by Anonymous | Score: 4750

War is a very terrible thing. Especially when it has been declared. Because then you don't know who has the best chance and who doesn't. Nothing can be gaged and it is quite annoying.

So being the owner of a used book bookstore is definitely more of something you'd want to do. No one really cares in a bookstore.

Young boys who decided to come in looking for books of war are set off with a small novel or journal of some soldier come back from war.

But the best people are the students, book collectors, or general all-around lovely people. This would include the occasional pensive student who would wander in. Not quite sure if they're allowed to be there or not.

It was honestly a little bit cute as he wandered around. Grabbing their arms as they cautiously ran their fingers across ancient trilogies. Before picking something more down their ally.

And most of all, the bookshop was not expecting any deliveries due to the war. They had all stopped so, the pair was very much surprised when a newspaper-wrapped package had found its way into their letterbox.

It was a thinner novel neither had read with a note inside.

I offer this book in hopes of in exchange to allow me to paint your small shop. I would understand why you would not. But if you did, I would be delighted.
- A

Grinning, the pair began to draft a reply. Putting the book aside to shelf later.

Dear Mx. A,
We would be delighted to allow you to paint our humble shop. We hope this finds you in good health and thank you for the book.
-Mx. and Mrs. Lovegood

Picking up the book, they walked through the shelves. Finding the proper place, gently placing it into place.

As they continued a book sitting on the floor caught their attention. Picking it up, they smiled. "We can repair this."

Nodding they sat it down on a desk. Sitting down to enjoy a cup of tea. In the midst of a war, a bookshop.

That had paper clips and sheets of paper. Pens, quills, and patches. Some pairs of socks, and generally. A bookshop.
