I move my fingers and close my eyes, resting my forehead on my knees. The hardwood floor is warm against my bare feet. Sighing, I let my shoulders tense. 
The floor begins to cool, begins to collect the moisture of the air, sweat or humidity or both. My breathing is ragged and uneven as I focus solely on my movement. I see movement in the corners of my eyes. Something slides over my legs. White flashes in front of my eyes. A foot lands against the dirt floor. Sweat drops from my forehead. The world spins and swirls and slows. 
I kill the tensing of my muscles, shaking my hand to rid myself of the quivering. My legs ache as I stand. Opening my eyes, I glance around the gym. People spar, mostly the older recruits, while the youngers watch in amazement. I roll my eyes and turn to the movement behind that has drawn some of the audience's attention. 
Two people carry a bedframe through the gym, arms straining against the weight. I
