"You didn't."

"I did."

"No, you didn't. Someone's playin' you, or- y-y'know what? Ya just didn't."

"Wh-whaddya mean, 'why'? Why can't I win the lottery?"

"Because you just don't. You're just... you don't have the 'good fortune' some people do. You don't... do things like that!"

"'Good fortune'? I thought all you thoughtful paramedics didn't believe in things like that."

"Tell me something. Have you ever gotten the right side of a wishbone?"

"That's what I thought. Now, give me the ticket, and I can show the interrogation camera I have right here in my hand -which is currently recording, which means it's watching you- that it's a fake."

I held the ticket out to her, reluctant. She snatched it away. After inspecting it for about thirty seconds, she shut off the camera, and bolted from the room. I'd just been robbed. I didn't care, though.

It really was a fake.
