The Silent Life

"YEEESSSSS!" Pa comes in through the kitchen. At first I thought it was Ma who was screeching but nope. It was pa. Apparently, his important deal had gone through and now he was getting a promotion. Although a fifty cent raise doesn't seem like much, it's everything for our family. The astrologer, ever so slow, used to be my Ma's boss. When she had me and couldn't work anymore, his dumb brain had fired her. She didn't mind though saying that if he hadn't fired her, she would have quit.
