The rain was pattering against my window when I woke up.  Why did I wake up? It wasn't morning yet. My alarm didn't go off. I track downstairs past the cupboards that hold our skiing jackets, skis, and poles for the ever so close wintertime that is approaching. How close that is... I go past the shelf with my defuser on it which is currently spurting out lavender. I walk into the kitchen when it happens. I feel the rumbles as the start of an earthquake hits. Or was it really the start.  I walk around seeing if anything got knocked out of place and I see the soccer ball rolling out from its hiding space and a few cups ling here and there. Then another wave hits. The plates jitter and jatter. I get knocked back a step. Why in the world is there an earthquake hitting my quaint little town. I turn the tv on and see that it's not just my town that the earthquake is happening in. It's happening everywhere.  Apparently in the town next to me the bank was robbed. Thankfully no one was hurt though. I step over into the sunroom to see if my art supplies were affected, and thankfully they weren't. There are a few paintbrushes lying around, but that's the extent of the damage. The rain patters against the roof. It starts to pour. On the tv, I hear the reporter talking about fires starting to spread, and firefighters patiently making their way to them. I go back into the kitchen, grab some jam, and spread it on some toast while I continue watching.  The reporters tell people to power up their genorators
