Princesses of the snow

by ROWAN TREE | Score: 2650

Something is beautiful about the way the stars look in the wide sky. It's so peaceful, in the early hours of the morning. The world is asleep, and the silence rings out around you. Suddenly a wail ripped through the air. I sighed. Alice was crying again. She was one of the newest orphans and hadn't settled in yet. she was always crying.

"Don't worry, I can fix this, Emily."

"Thanks Haley, I haven't been able to get much sleep lately."

" I hope you feel better soon."

"Thanks"

I walk to the back room, and down the stairs. Behind the boiler, there is a pile of money. This is all of the money that I've saved up. Soon I'm getting out of here. But I must wait. the winter is so long, and cold. I'd never survive if I ran away now. I walk back to my room and settle myself in my bed. A dove flies past my window. It must be a sign from Xuixan. Xuixan is the goddess of light and hope.

"Hey, how do you feel?" asked Haley, concerned.

"Oh, I'm feeling a little better. Listen, Haley, I saw a dove. It has to be a sign."

"I agree. We must leave soon, otherwise we will not be able to leave. They are getting a new matron, and she's much stricter than Joan."

"We must gather our supplies now."

"Okay, I'll start."
