The End of an Era

"Whack! Bang! Punch! The theme park extravaganza fight club is back in town..." A colourful man speaks out through the TV, almost directly to me, while two men fight to near death in the background, contrasted by the incessant screaming of joyous children on the rollercoaster behind.
The display entrances me for a short while before a rogue plastic bag smacks me in the face, bringing me back to reality.
"You don't have to love me anymore... just... be happy for me..."
My girlfriend... well, ex-girlfriend now I suppose is finishing up her half-hearted plea for peace, but I've barely even been listening. I'm just a numb and dumb ex-pharmacist staring at the flashing pictures on the magic box, waiting for hunger or despair to drag me in a direction.
"Sure..." I mutter. The only word I can process right now...
"Thank you... I'm glad to..." She continues on, trying to make me feel better, trying to convince me that this is mutual. But it's not.
I get up and grab a pack of peanuts while she finishes her mumblings of which I'm not even listening to. Do you think she knows I'm not listening? Is she actually trying to convince herself this is the right decision? Leaving me to die in this shithole alone so she can go off to Portugal and start a new life?
Before I can
