The Painter's Agony

by Daniel Tighe | Score: 4100

It's a nice, sunny day. Birds are chirping, the sun is blaring, and a woman is violently throwing up in the bathroom thanks to poor health and safety rules. The bathroom was fancier than you'd expect for such a dainty establishment. There was a soft rug around the toilet, pristine tiles on the wall, and a bunch of buttons I'm not sure anyone truly understands on the armrest of the toilet. My favourite addition though was the large pile of novels on the small ledge behind the toilet for all the pretentious businessmen, and me, to read as they do their business with pompous arrogance.

With me at this all you can eat mess of sushi, alcohol, and suits is my drunken friend, Jeremy. Back in the UK he's a bailiff, but here in Japan he's a slow, yet enjoyable nuisance helping me get my art on display at one of the most prestigious and respectable galleries around.

Most of my life has been sat behind an easel with a paintbrush in hand. I would say I got it from my parents, but I only had my mum and she was a maternal firefighter, too busy saving lives to consider anything other than her, mine, and everyone else's wellbeing. But while she was off doing good, I was painting, typically terrible, paintings. But one long day of lazing in bed with a phone in hand browsing through ghost stories and "magic" tricks got me in touch with a famous painter.
