I watched in on the news. A giant earthquake had broken out in Taiwan and the city had almost been razed. Millions were expected dead. I sighed as I looked up. The nurse was calling my name. I entered the small white room and greeted the dentist. He was an older man with an enthusiastic smile, grey hair and soft eyes. I liked him. He was also very kind when it came to treating someone with a phobia of dentists.
I sat down in the chair and leaned back. The dentist fastened the bib and started leaning the chair back. My eyes roved automatically to the map in the ceiling. It was a drawn, old map of Europe. It always helped distract me, with its long gone countries and places.
I woke up with a start. Where was I? looking around I noticed I was in a strange bed, and not alone. The bedding was threadbare and worn, but the room was new and quite posh. On the bed stand was an old fashioned clock radio showing the time 4:00 am. Placed next to it was a 50s style lamp, but it looked way too new to be a real vintage lamp. I heard soft footsteps outside the door. A click and a sliding sound announced the entry of someone. A middle aged man stood in the door, dressed immaculately in suit and tie. - Good morning, miss. He said with a bow. - You woke earlier than we expected. You didn't sleep for four days after all.
