The earthquake

by Anonymous | Score: 3000

Melo and I were eating on the dining table shrouded with a feathery cloth when suddenly, the house began to shake.  The windows rattled and the furniture toppled everywhere as we scrambled outside. We both ducked inside the table and I searched for his hand underneath. I grabbed it and pulled him to my hug. "Melo!" I squeezed out of relief but ignoring the sounds and distribution outside. He latched on harder and whined, "Mom... what's happening out there." His box of markers on the table fell towards the ground and scattered around bouncing up and down on the floor. The paintings, walls, pictures were crumbling as well as my state. Where was Theo when I needed him. Suddenly, Theo yelled from downstairs. "Everything alright madam?" Relieved, I replied "Yes, yes we're fine, you okay?" "I'm managing," he said with a struggle in his voice. I could only check up on him after the shock subsided so I laid there patiently waiting for it to calm down. Minutes passed with Melo gripping my shirt and finally, the quakes silenced and we were at peace. I count to 30 and slowly crawl outside of the table. I nudged Melo to follow me but he seemed to lost a sense of direction. "Melo?" I asked in a soft voice. He began to shake and said, "Mom... I can't see anything"
