It had been a bad day. I had been out late the night before so I didn't get enough sleep. When I got to work late, my boss calmly announced that I was fired. Great! And my cousin from down South invited me to his wedding. So here I was, after a long plane ride, in my tiny hotel room. The next morning, after a night of tossing and turning, I felt no better than the day before. Walking down to the breakfast room, I smelled bacon and my spirits rose slightly. I got a cup of coffee and bacon and toast. The elevator dinged, and as I struggled to juggle my plate and cup, I did not pay attention to the person departing the elevator. I looked up just in time to see a well-developed man smile at me in camaraderie.

We had already talked for nearly two hours. I knew he was a lifeguard, and he knew I was currently jobless. We walked down to the beach, and as I leaned down to pick up a pretty hair ribbon, he suddenly grabbed my wrist and warned, "Don't trust everything you see." Startled, I straightened.
