The Weird Cajun Girl of the North?

It was the day I was born. My dad was a carpenter and my mom was an emotionally vulnerable shoemaker. They say I got my love of cooking because I was born with a fork in my hand. I saw it was because I grew up in New Orleans. If you want good food, the is the place to go. I love all of the flavors there. The spices of cajun food or the sweetness of pralines, I could never get enough of that food. This was my home. Until it wasn't. The day after my fifteenth birthday, my parents were sent to prison fo robbing a bank to pay our medical bills. They were turned in by our arrogant neighbor, a zealous astronomer, who always seemed to have it out for my family. So, I was sent to live with my aunt and uncle in the north. My parents sent me a soy sauce packet a week after I had moved north. I was hurt and confused by this gift. What did it mean? Was this what they thought of me? I tried to console myself by saying "This is all they could get to send me." but it never worked. I lived up north for months, sending letters to my parents almost daily, and counting down the days until they were released. And then, tragedy hit. A plane crashed into the prison, killing everyone inside of it including my parents and the slow bank clerk they had stolen money from. I was devastated. I found their obituaries on my computer but it didn't do them justice. It only described them as criminals and not the great people and exceptional parent they were. It was a hard day for me. But I attempted to make the best of my situation. If that was possible. And as if things couldn't get any worse, my aunt passed away due to cancer. Was my life a wreck or what? It was just me and my uncle now and I prayed everyday that I wouldn't wake up to find him dead. I found out our neighbor was an old friend of me, a distant paramedic named Brock.
