"Breakfast is served." The call came from the back of the room and heads popped up all around the table.
The school had been educating boys for two hundred and tweeny years now but never had there been a group like this. They were quite a 'special' group, well that was one way to describe them, and it took a unique staff to take care of them.
Myrtle worked in the library. She had worked quietly in her space, dealing with the boys who wandered in looking for refuge. Finding a home amongst a world of words.
Now, looking out over the breakfast table, she spotted a few boys that she considered her friends. Grant and Mike came in at least twice a day. It could be for a quick game of chess, or to find space to read.
On the wall hung the school flag. She had always wondered why the school had selected the rhino as their mascot. Why, when they were educating boys would they focus on such a quirky beast? The story went that it was because the first headmaster liked to go on safari in Africa. That the rhino was the ultimate trophy, showing you had become a true hunter.
Others said it was a symbol of creating boys who were solid and tough, that the world could not move.
