The biting wind seemed to permeate everything, clothes, coats, and even walls occasionally, the winter had just begun, but it would be months before they finally saw the sun again. Only the moon would be visible this time of year. Yet this would not stop Veriat, he had once again set out to research the ancient ruins on this mountain, and he would do it. He wanted to see if he could manage to find another sculpture like the one he had found a few months ago.  It was very interesting, seeming to depict some ancient deity, and he was determined to find another like it, so he pulled his ski jacket tighter and trudged through the snow.  It was practically a blizzard already even though it had only started snowing several minutes ago. Veriat decided it might be best to stop for now and wait out the snowfall, so he found a nearby cave and used his tinderbox to get a fire started, but as the warmth began to wash over him, he was hit with one of his fits, everything seemed to be melting, shifting, and then came the laughter, the terrible,  uncontrollable laughter. The world around him faded, and suddenly he was living a thousand different lives, a traffic warden who couldn't care less about his job, an archer drawing back his bowstring and aiming at a distant buck, a businessman at the bar drinking away his sorrows after losing the deal of his life, and finally a woodworker who only sol
