my mother died

by Anonymous | Score: 2050

I could hear the low sighs and whimpers downstairs, but I didn't bother to check it out. What was the point? My mother just passed away and I couldn't stand the fact that she was gone already. My brother had gone out for a drink at the bar, so it was just my father and I surrounded by the suffocating walls of our house. I decided I couldn't take it anymore and gingerly trudged down the spiraling stairs. The cries got louder as I got closer to my father, who was sitting on the leather couch. The sight of him crying and alone made tears pool in my eyes. I could feel my throat closing in and the lump getting bigger. I brought my hand up to my face to wipe the trickling tears, and ran up to my father. He looked up at me and for the first time, I could feel his depression and desperation for company. I slowly took a seat beside him, and wrapped my arms around his haggard body. The smell of soap and lemons filled my nostrils and I was immediately reminded of my mother. The tears that I have been holding in immediately trickled down my face once again.
