Mist

Crunch.
Thin, birch trees surrounded me like a maze, watching my every movement and listening to every echo of my footsteps. The forest was already unnerving enough, but the mist blanketing the area made me quite uneasy.
So when I heard a shrill cry, my heart jumped.
I looked to the left. I looked to the right. I looked up. Oh. Clouds. Storm clouds.
"There's a lot of grey today, hm? I thought the mist was enough dreariness."
No response, of course. Just the distant sound of thunder. Mother Nature isn't a talkative one, is she?
"I should go home. Before the rain comes." I perked up. "Oh, and my garden. The new seeds I got from the market!" I picked up the pace
