Glacial North

by W L | Score: 5650

IN the shattered wastelands of the north, only the cold and dark glaciers remain. Leaning towards the ancient, towering ruins of a lost civilization, these towering spires of ice last forever. In the main ruin, stands a small man. He is of miniature stature with a iron pair of glasses. He is an assistant of sorts, and a somber man at that. Besides him there is a tall man, who is bundled up to the eyes: he is wearing a skiing jacket, snowpants, a parka, a scarf, and googles. The place rings out in silence, nothing to be heard barring the light breath of the men. "Calic, is there any news on the creature?" the tall man asks. The short man strikes an odd opposite of the tall man: as he is wearing a tee shirt and capris. "I haven't heard anything yet, you old coot." He pauses and looks at the book in his hands. "Plus, that forsaken book keeper would have updated me of anything. You know how much effort he puts in." The taller man pulls out a playing card in his hand, "Well, I sure hope it looks like it's picture."
Mark sits up with a start. There wasn't anything he could see around him. It was the zenith of the moon and completely dark. He was covered with sweat. What was that dream just now. His tv was still on, with Frank Hamil on it, presenting the latest races. A few cars zoomed past on screen. The camera zeroed in on one car and followed it. The car was titled Zero One, in letters, not numbers. Mark shook off the strange feeling and got up to go out. He checked to make sure his things were there. A keychain with a zero, and a deck of playing cards. He sighed. There really wasn't much for him to have these days, not with monsters and bounty hunters all over the place. Pulling out a card he recoiled in fright, dropping it. On the face of the card was a monster. It was the one that the tall man had looked at earlier. He was confused.
