The Fool

by Anonymous | Score: 900

The air turns black all around.

My head grows heavy and my sight grows dim. Maria was my best friend and partner for 16 years, and now she's gone.

When I come to, a nurse is standing over my as I lie there by Maria's bedside, with an oxygen b
bottle in her hand. She has not had time to apply the mask to my face. She does it now.

I could have sworn I had not drunk all that much. But I ran that red light like a fool. They got Maria out with the Jaws of Life, but it was too late, and she died at the hospital.

I hoped I would be next.
