Don't Listen

by Laraine Blythe | Score: 2650

"As the glass shattered we all looked up from our work and saw the broken window.  It looked like something out of a movie. Our teacher Mr. Winthrop got up from his desk to investigate, but saw nothing while examining it. He looked out the window and saw nothing. Creeeakk. The closet door opened and a soccer ball rolled out and hit Mr. Winthrop's desk with a slight tap. We all get up, afraid of the classroom and walk to our teacher's desk and stand behind it. The schoolteacher walked over the pitch black closet and peeked his head in. Nothing. As he turned around we all heard a baby cry out from the closet. Just as he ran to the door leading to the hall our school  warden came in and saw the window and closet. He grew angry that 'we' had broken a window and demanded to know who it was." Catherine said the the police officer in the pouring rain, looking over at her teacher's bloody body being carried into the ambulance.  My mother ran to me, her stomach bouncing with the baby.
