I opened my bedroom door, and looked into the dark hallway. Something you see so often can be such a scary thing. Many things are scary about darkness. The darkness itself. I looked down the hallway. There's nothing there, but, that's what I want. The scariest thing about the dark, and silence, is that you don't know what's in it. The mystery. I hesitated, then put one foot in front of the other slowly. The silence made my breathing seem loud. I took a deep breath, then took another step forwards. I looked at the shelf, and in the darkness, I could see the silhouette of my older brothers comic books. I glanced back towards my door, and saw darkness. Only Darkness. I couldn't turn on the light though until I got downstairs because I didn't want to wake anybody. I focused my attention to the stairs as I stepped down them. I grasped the railing, and carefully put one foot in front of the other as I walked down.
I flicked the light switch on and yelped at the sight of my brother. I clung to the doorway and my fingers were tight around it. Liam crouched over in laughter, and I said, "That's not funny."
"It... Was...Hilarious!" He said through his laughter.
I glared at him, and said, "Why are you even awake?"
"I wanted to scare you." Liam said
"You're a jerk." I said.
Liam chuckled, then said, "Let's go to bed."
"You scared me!" I growled.
