Death in The Asylum
by Lyra Black 1998 | Score: 3200
Everyone wakes up at the sound of an eerie scream. Groggily they make their way towards the sound. When they enter the room, the smell of fresh blood sickens them, but what they see is even more sickening. The patient in Room 101 is thrown on the ground and slashed at the throat. Besides her are a broken breakfast tray, sharp pieces of glass from the coffee mug and the plate strewn about the room. The nurse who found her, and woke everyone up with her scream, is shaking in the corner. " I came to bring her breakfast but I found her like this!"
Other patients slowly trickle in. Someone steps on something that cracks. It's a pocketwatch that shows 4 am. It reminds them of what patient 101 always said "I don't need any sleep". She was always awake it seemed.
"We need to call the police!" Someone said, but... the police doesn't really take calls from the asylum seriously... After all these kind of things happen a lot here.
At 7 am a tired looking police officer arrives at the scene, looking very disinterested. He looks at the scene and says "it's a suicide, obviously" and murmurs. "Always suicides with this bunch"
But is it really a suicide? Why did the pocketwatch stop at 4 am? And why weren't there any coffee or pieces of toast on the floor, amongst the broken china?
