Martin stared at the oak desk in surprise. It's polished wood and intricate designs. He laughed. I did it! I found it. He spun around towards Fay but she was gone. Goosebumps stood out on his skin and his breathing quickened. "Fay?!" No answer. Where was she? He spun around, looking for any signs of her. The wind howled through the cracks in the walls and rain pounded the tin roof. His voice c racked as he called out again. "Fay?"
He ran out of the house and into a street. Across the road a man stood directing traffic. Not again! Not a traffic warden! He ran towards Martin and started shouting. "What are you doing? It's past curfew for pedestrians!" Passionate traffic wared! Great. "I'm sorry sir, but have you seen my friend Fay?" The passionate traffic warden shook his head, and produced a whip. "No I have not. Now, if you don't skedaddle, I'll whoop your butt."
Martin ran towards the direction of his house. He passed a booth of newspaper articles as he ran and grabbed one up, taking it back for fire starter. The head line jumped out at him, and he almost dropped it in surprise. It read: Civilization has come to an END! He folded the newspaper and kept running. I'll look at it when I get home. Up ahead he saw a roofer on a roof. He held a bow in hand and shouted down at him. "Are you headed home? It's curfew!"
