My Real Life VIII

by April | Score: 2650

I only had to think a few more seconds before I pressed the call button. I stared at my phone as if it was some kind of death machine while it rang. Once. Twice. Thrice.
  "Hello?"
I gasped and put the phone to my ear. "Hello, who is this?"
"Miss Silvia's maid," the voice came. "Are you her niece?"
"Yes, I am! Could I speak with my aunt, please?" I asked politely. "I can make it a videocall."
"Yes, of course! Hold on one minute while I go get her," came the maid's sweet voice.
While it was true my aunt had lost her job countless times, she had somehow found a way to make a big amount of money. She lived in a small mansion, had her own team of maids and butlers, and only hired a chef who could use a pasta strainer "correctly."
I was soon in a videocall with my aunt. I took a good look at her and knew she hadn't slept in days. My aunt hadn't bothered to learn sign language when I offered to teach her, so now her maid was sitting beside her with a pen and paper to write what I said.
"Where are you?" my aunt asked looking at my surroundings. That's when I realized she would see the old, yellow and green flower wallpaper behind me that was obviously not placed anywhere in my house.
  I was busted.
